So this was me yesterday. I have been suffering from major back spasm pains for the last three weeks and was desperate for relief. My wonderful friend, Karin, who's called me every day for the last three weeks to see how I'm doing and to find out if I need anything has been suggesting I give it a try. It did wonders for her father in law and her brother in law so she thought it'd be great for me. The only problem is: I HATE NEEDLES! Well, after suffering for so long and with no relief from muscle relaxers, Vicotin, heat, ice, exercises and lots of rest I finally gave in to her advice.

This is what she told me and what I've heard a million times from everybody else. Well, I just want to set the record straight for the rest of you, IT'S A LIE! I can tell you with all honestly that I felt every needle going into my back and it was not pain-free. I was also awake the whole time fully aware of lots of needles sticking in my back. It's also not pain-free when they pull those suckers out either.
I do have to admit that I felt a little better after the treatment and could actually stand straight up for the first time in weeks. I still have a lot of pain, but the cute Chinese lady told me it'd get even better after the next appointment. She asked if I wanted to book my next appointment then, but I told her I'd have to call her later. I'm trying to decide if it's worth the PAIN to try again or if I should just try something else. If anyone has any experience I'd love to hear it!

Oh man! I could never do that! I freak out just thinking of that epidural I had. NEEDLES IN THE BACK?! Good luck with your decision.
You guys are all wimps.
Try a Sports Medicine Doctor or look up "Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation" or sometimes they are called "Psyiatrists". That's what Steve is doing his residency in. They can inject (yes, more needles) botox into your back muscles which paralyze them and stop the spasms. Or, you could have a steriod injection if its a joint problem. How about therapeutic massage?
You could call and talk to Steve, that is what he does all day at work.
PROTHRO LIVES!
You are the bravest woman I know!! I am so sorry to hear about your back Steph!! I have to agree with Heidi. Anytime labor gets brought up, the epidural shot is the first thing that comes to life in my body.... and it isn't a very friendly reminder. Nate's back has been acting up as well. He really likes the supined machine (it's a type of exercise machine that hangs you upside down and helps stretch you out.) You might have tried that already, but he says it's worked wonders for his back. You can usually find them at the gym (depending) or even a physical therapist. I hope it helps and I hope it gets better!!
Yikes! My parents get the kind of needles that stay in your body for ever! They swear by it... don't know what it is called, but since you are willing to try torture, maybe you could give it a try!
